Obituary for Torey Lynne Goodsell

Torey Lynne Goodsell
Clinton-Torey Lynne Goodsell, 19, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 16, 2018 following a life-long courageous battle with mitochondrial disease. She is survived by her loving parents, Matthew “Chuck” Goodsell & Melissa (Stewart) Goodsell; her brother and best friend Brandon Goodsell, with whom she lived, and siblings Kirsten Goodsell Stewart, Ashley Goodsell, and Carl Niemi. She leaves her maternal grandparents, Dale Stewart & Judith Hodgkins; paternal grandmother Gail Goodsell; aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. She adored her teachers and classmates at FLLAC Collaborative and shared a special bond with her nurse and long-time care provider who attended school with her, Moira Donohue.
Throughout her journey, Torey defined what it meant to be a fighter and did it with just the right mixture of sass, dogged determination, and grace. She had an indomitable spirit, blazed her own path and wrote her own story. Her bravery and fortitude were breathtaking. Torey was able to capture the hearts of those who knew her, and she did it all without saying a word. She had the stink eye down to a science, could throw some serious shade and despite being nonverbal, would let you know exactly how she felt. Torey will be fiercely missed by those that loved her, and loved she was. Torey’s family is grateful for the friendship, care and support provided by the care teams at UMass Children’s Medical Center, Notre Dame PediPals & Hospice. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 5 until 7PM with a Funeral Service to follow at 7PM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Torey Lynne Goodsell to: UMASS Medical Center-Office of Advancement, Child Life Program, 55 Lake Ave. North, Worcester, MA 01655.
