Shirley was born in Clinton to the late Joseph & Evelyn (Gorham) Adshade. She was raised in Lancaster and graduated from the Lancaster High School, Class of 1960. In addition to raising her family, Shirley worked as a long-time care provider in several area group homes operated by the Commonwealth of MA Department of Developmental Services.
