Shirley E. Campbell (Adshade)
Clinton-Shirley E. (Adshade) Campbell, 76, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. She is preceded in death by her husband Roy M. Campbell. She is survived by her children, Pamela Sargent and James Strang, both of Clinton; and Barbara Jo Harrold of Sterling. She leaves her siblings, Joseph Adshade & wife Lottie of Clinton; Nancy Adshade, and Sandra Johnson & husband Frank, all of Lancaster; her adoring grandchildren, Patrick Sargent and Jacquelyn Sargent, of Clinton; Kyle Harrold, and Laney Harrold, of Sterling; and great-granddaughter Lilly Rathburn of Athol; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her brother Ronald “Lucky” Adshade.
Shirley was born in Clinton to the late Joseph & Evelyn (Gorham) Adshade. She was raised in Lancaster and graduated from the Lancaster High School, Class of 1960. In addition to raising her family, Shirley worked as a long-time care provider in several area group homes operated by the Commonwealth of MA Department of Developmental Services. In retirement, she enjoyed part time work assisting visitors at WHEAT Community Connections in Clinton. Shirley lived a life caring for others, devoting herself to raising children and helping those in need. She was a great advocate for those with disability and always brought smile and laughter to the friends she cared for. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren and happiest while in the company of family and friends. Visitors are encouraged to wear Shirley’s favorite color purple while attending her Funeral Service at 10AM on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery; and at Calling hours on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 5 until 7PM in the funeral home.
