Clinton-Erika (Ittner) Devereaux, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2018 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester following a brief illness. She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, Thomas C. Devereaux, who died in 1996. She is survived by her son, Brian K. Devereaux & wife Diana; and two grandsons, Timothy Devereaux and Andrew Devereaux, all of Sterling; two sisters, Inge Lotze of Oxford; and Gladys Stuart & husband Phil of Clinton; sister-in-law, Virginia Ittner of Sterling; nieces, nephews, extended family, many dear friends, and her adoring cat Cuttsy. She is pre-deceased by three siblings, Ruth Steinau, Charles Ittner, and Eleanor Ittner.
Erika was born in Clinton to German immigrants Lorenz & Helene (Beyer) Ittner. She graduated from the Clinton High School, Class of 1947, and worked for many years with the Colonial Press and later as a housekeeper. She was a woman of great faith and life member of the Evangelical Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton. Erika loved the outdoors, she enjoyed long nature walks, time spent in her garden, and summers at the beach. She was happiest while in the company of her grandchildren and will be remembered lovingly as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. A Calling Hour will be held from 9:30 until 10:30AM on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Funeral Service celebrated at 11AM at Evangelical Trinity Lutheran Church, 117 Chace St., Clinton, and burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
