Condolence: I was just hiking Mount Monadnock this morning when I learned of Dons passing from a fellow hiker.
I was shocked and unaware if any medical issues he was having. I last saw him several months ago on the trail. I only knew him from the many times we met and had brief conversations on the mountain. He was always smiling and excited about the hike and couldn't wait for winter weather to really arrive to enjoy the winter hiking and ski season that I know he loved. We missed him out there during his long back issues the year before. The mountain will be a little less of a joyous place because of his absence.
My sincerest condolences to his wife and other family, friends and colleagues.

Condolence: Denise and family, it is so shocking to hear of Don’s passing. Working at the park I have met many great people, Don was on top of my list. He had a great personality and always full of energy! We had so many good conversations that I will miss greatly. I know he is in a better place, climbing higher mountains.
God bless,
Dennis
